Can you imagine how life would be like if you don’t know how to read?
If you’re curious about how it would be like, then picture this:
When you wake up in the morning, you won’t be able to decipher the daily paper. You won’t be able to understand the signposts at the side of the road. The smartphone will seem like an alien device to you. You won’t even be able to use the internet or send and receive messages through text!
Now that you have an idea what it’s like, do you think you would be able to survive in the modern world without literacy? Sure, you might be able to get by, but it will be a hard existence.
Besides, when you really get down to it, literacy is a prerequisite to many things in life. And it comes with many benefits too:
- By being literate, you are able to understand instructions better.
Instructions are important. They guide you to do things the right way so that you can avoid undesirable results. If you’re unable to read the instructions, you would be at a great disadvantage.
- By being literate, you are able to gain a greater understanding of things.
Mathematics. Science. Ethics. These are only among the many things that we learn thanks to numerous books. Without access to the information in books or materials online, your world would be very limited.
- By being literate, you are able to earn a wider perspective.
And with a more open mind, you will be able to socialize and integrate yourself into society better. This will allow you to make more connections that will make your life’s journey more pleasant.
- By being literate, you are able to obtain an easier path to your dreams.
Literacy leads to education. And education helps bring forth success. Literacy is the first step in fulfilling your aspirations. Without it, you’d be forced to climb over a steep wall just to get to the starting point of your goals in life.
- By being literate, you are able to achieve a better quality of life.
Everyone deserves to live in a safe and comfortable environment as much as the next person. But when you’re unable to read, everything around you can potentially become a hazard. You could mistake similar looking things for one another, you could easily get lost, and so on. A big chunk of the modern world would be inaccessible to you simply because you’re unable to read.
Illiteracy is a handicap. One that numerous children living in Nigeria today still have. That’s why Chief Stephen O. Nwankwo Children’s Literacy Foundation International Incorporated is making an effort to promote literacy and educate them. With our programs and your help, we will be able to make a difference.
With even a small donation, you can support a learner receiving the privileges of a Child Education International and of a non-profit organization in Houston Texas to create a better future.
